Congratulations! Your son or daughter has made the excellent choice to take an Agriculture class and to be a part of the Shields Valley FFA chapter!

FFA is a national organization for students in grades 8-12 who are enrolled in agricultural education courses. FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education.  Students who are members of the FFA chapter are exposed to a wide variety of experiences and will put them at a great advantage when applying for college, scholarships, as well as employment opportunities.

FFA provides a wide range of activities for members from cows and cats to tractors and trees and everything in between. As a chapter we travel all over the state of Montana attending leadership seminars, educational forums and competing in events that develop important career skills. Students who are FFA members develop self-confidence, an increased perspective of the world around them, and excellent communication skills.

One of the first steps to becoming an official FFA member is to order an official FFA jacket. These jackets are worn during all business sessions, contests and other important FFA functions. The jackets are $50 and can be used for all four years of high school. There are many different resources for purchasing these jackets so please let me know if any financial assistance is needed!

In addition to an FFA jacket, the following items are a part of the official “dress” or uniform of an FFA member:

    Males:

    Black Slacks

    Black Socks

    Black Dress Shoes

    White Collared Shirt

    Official FFA Tie ($12.50)

    Females:

    Black Skirt or Black Slacks

    Black Nylons

Closed Toe and Closed Heel Black Dress Shoes

    White Collared Shirt

    Official FFA Scarf ($10.50)

If you have an older sibling or family member with a jacket you are welcome to use it. The jacket and tie/scarf are only available through the FFA organization and need to be purchased through me. The remaining items are available at most clothing stores and shouldn’t be too difficult to find. They are also good to have for future job interviews or other occasions where professional dress is recommended. If you have any questions please feel free to call, email, or stop by any time.
